This American Life on NPR had a wonderfully balanced story about Americans with Disabilities Act this weekend. The story discusses how federally and state mandated ADA laws help those with disabilities but there is no one to enforce it except those who sue property and business owners. Tom Mundy, someone who’s sued over 500 businesses in the the past 3 years is interviewed as well as the owner of a car wash who’s being sued because the mirror in the bathroom was a couple inches too high. An interesting listen, especially in light of the recent changes to ADA signage guidelines.
Here’s a link to the audio. The ADA story starts at minute 34, but the whole show is worth listening to.
