New mobile phone apps may soon make mall directory maps a thing of the past. Companies such as PointInside, FastMall and Micello have developed iPhone apps that allow users to have an interactive map in the palm of their hands. They can locate the user on the map, show all the shops in the mall and even show a path to the store that the user wants to go to. Shopping center maps are constantly being added to the database and lists of tenants are updated. There are plans to expand the mapping for airports, hospitals and college campuses.
