As part of the team redesigning the mid-century modern entrance plaza for a new generation, Hunt drew design inspiration from the site’s rich history. The design incorporates a color palette that nods to the era’s retro charm, while the whimsical entrance monument features natural forms and vibrant hues to create a warm welcome for visitors. A new, detailed park map will serve as a key tool for helping visitors plan their visit. To honor the generous philanthropic support of the Arboretum, donor names are thoughtfully integrated into plaza tiles, carved into modern benches, and showcased on colorful corten steel plant markers. The design harmoniously blends bold colors with natural materials, creating a cohesive experience that integrates wayfinding, interpretation, and donor recognition within the landscape.
