Hidden Pasadena

Exploring Pasadena’s past

Client: Lincoln Properties. |. Collaboration: Harvest Moon Studio

Discover Old Pasadena’s hidden stories: explore bronze panels along the sidewalk, an immersive exhibit wall, and community efforts honoring displaced African American, Japanese, and Mexican American residents.

The project is a thoughtfully designed tribute to the diverse communities displaced during the mid-1900s development of Old Pasadena, including African Americans, Japanese Americans, Mexican Americans, and others. It integrates historical interpretation into the cityscape through carefully planned elements. Two bronze upright panels are installed along the sidewalks, each offering a poignant reminder of the area’s rich heritage and untold stories. A prominent exhibit wall will serve as a focal point, narrating the hidden histories of Old Pasadena’s displaced residents in a compelling and educational manner. Extensive community outreach, conducted with the Northwest Commission, city officials, and local stakeholders, ensures that the project reflects authentic voices and fosters an inclusive, meaningful connection between the past and present.
