A multimillion dollar terminal renovation blends streamline modern design with seamless wayfinding, including overhead signage and a 3D directory for effortless navigation.
As part of the $136 million renovation and expansion of Long Beach International Airport’s historic streamline modern terminal and new concourses, Hunt Design played a key role in developing wayfinding and identification signage for nearly 90,000 square feet of newly renovated and expanded public space. The signage system was thoughtfully crafted to enhance the travel experience, with overhead signs strategically placed to guide passengers through the terminal’s unique indoor/outdoor design. A three-dimensional, rendered directory map was integrated into the terminal to help travelers easily orient themselves in the expansive space. The wayfinding system was designed to ensure smooth movement through the terminal, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics, while respecting the terminal’s historic architectural style. This careful planning contributed to a seamless, user-friendly airport experience.
