Hunt Design has helped implement a number of projects at the San Diego Zoo during its long relationship with the world-renowned destination. The Zoo engaged Hunt to develop a comprehensive signage and wayfinding system designed to improve navigation and enhance the visitor experience. The project introduced a new street and trail system organized into colored zones, simplifying the journey through the zoo’s complex topography. A newly designed, zone-based map prioritized visitor needs with clear trail names, walking times, and trail difficulty levels, along with reorganized visitor choice listings for ease of use. The system included numbered directional signs corresponding to map references, ensuring intuitive navigation. To support the Bus Tour System, the project featured a key entrance monument, bus tour pylons, and changeable bus schedules, creating a seamless, user-friendly experience for all zoo guests.
